About Us
About Us
Congregation Shir Hadash is an evolving, vibrant, growing Reform Jewish congregation dedicated to providing a sense of community for its members as well as opportunities for spiritual growth and developing a strong Jewish identity.
Passionate individuals founded Shir Hadash in 1980 to be a safe haven for our diverse community where we celebrate each person’s individualism. Today our congregation numbers almost 500 member families, and our inclusive tradition is kept alive through an actively involved community that promotes connectedness, exploration, social justice, individualism, and lifelong learning. “Shir Hadash” means “New Song,” a name which reflects our strong tradition of joining together through music and song. Read about our diverse and vibrant services, and join us!
Four Pillars
- Community: We share our lives; show up for each other and create an “I see you” culture. It is the space that is willing to accompany us in every single stage of our lives.
- Social Responsibility: We challenge the status quo and harness the power of our community to do good.
- Spirituality: We search for practices that help us connect with ourselves, with each other, and with the eternal. We hold room for hope and joy while experiencing a world that is in need of healing.
- Wisdom: We try to find nuance and ground ourselves in ancient and modern wisdom as our Jewish tradition encourages us to study in dialogue together.
Our Team & Campus
- Thoughtful and inspiring clergy team, Senior Rabbi Nico Socolovsky, Rabbi Michael Walden, and Cantor Devorah Felder-Levy.
- Beautiful main sanctuary building featuring stunning stained glass windows, an inviting community room able to host large events, and multiple smaller event and meeting rooms.
- Creative and engaging Reggio-inspired preschool and natural playscape playgrounds. Our school building houses our fully-licensed full or part-day preschool as well as our Kulanu Learning programs. The Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center (SHECC) welcomes children from all families in the community (membership not required).
