Welcome

Shabbat is the central hub of our Jewish lives and the rhythm of our days and weeks always connect back to the beautiful central space of coming together for Shabbat. We welcome you to our Shabbat Square!

We look forward to seeing everyone of all ages at our low-stress schmooze, service, and dinner on Friday. It’s the perfect way to end your week and kick off the weekend.

Shabbat Square: Winter Edition: Cozy blankets? Welcome. Snuggly scarves? Also welcome. You, yourself, however you are feeling today? You are welcome here at Shabbat Square! Warming up with a cozy mug of coffee, tea, or soup? Yes! Come together to brighten our winter Fridays with joy and community as we sing and pray together.

The schmooze is in the foyer/lobby of the main building, and the service is in the Sanctuary, following the service is dinner in the Oneg room. Blankets with kid-friendly quiet-activities will be in a cozy kid area nestled up near the front of the service. A Shabbat Sensory Path is available for families to help kids get their wiggles out.

From empty nesters to families and kids, there is something for everyone as we enjoy this community time and welcome Shabbat.

  • 5:30pm: Casual schmooze with wine and cheese, plus games set out for the kids.
  • 6pm: Shabbat Service - blankets and quiet activities will be set out for the children.
  • Dinner (immediately after service) - register below - $15 per adult (age 13 and older), $8 per youth (age 12 and younger). Tonight's dinner will be: roasted brussels sprouts, lemon rosemary chicken breast, sesame tofu, roasted vegetables, brown rice, and vegetarian "chicken" nuggets.

THREE WAYS TO ATTEND

Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz is joining us through the MacKintosh Visiting Musical Artist Endowment. John Mackintosh and his husband Jerry Marks joined Shir Hadash in 1998. John was an active member of our choir, led many of our Shir Shabbat Services and was a part of the finance committee. Sadly, John passed away in 2005 and in 2020, Jerry gifted the congregation this endowment in John’s name. A fitting tribute to someone who enjoyed the gift of Jewish music.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
