CLASS: Hazmana l'Pyut | Jewish Poetry
Tuesday, May 20, 2025 • 22 Iyar 5785
6:30 PM - 8:00 PMChapel6:30pm to 8pm each session.
Join us on a journey across time and geography as we explore the rich tapestry of Jewish poetry and music. From the classical piyyutim of medieval Europe to the evocative melodies of North Africa, and the modern poetic expressions of Israel, we will dive deep into the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of these texts and songs.
In each session, we will not only study the poetry but also experience it through singing, embracing the different melodies that have given life to these words across the Jewish world. Together, we will uncover the layers of meaning behind these poetic expressions and connect to the diverse melodies that have carried Jewish prayers through generations.
SESSIONS: This is a three-part class held on May 20, June 10, and June 17!
NOTE: There is no fee for this class but donations are welcome!
