Dear Shir Hadash,

It’s summer time! While I cannot predict the weather and promise comforting cooling breezes, I can assure you that lots of naches (Yiddish for gratification) will come from our community.

I hope you can join Cantor Felder-Levy and our choir on June 23rd at 4pm for “Songs of Israel” -  “Shirim L’Israel,” which promises to be a wonderful afternoon. The concert will be followed by a reception sponsored by Gail Long.

I am excited to welcome our Rabbi Emerita, Melanie Aron, and her husband Michael Dine as we celebrate the Aufruf (pre-wedding aliyah) for their daughter Shifrah Aron-Dine and her fiance Dr. Mary Turocy. Please let us know if you can join for lunch.

Many of you have been waiting for this, so here we go: On July 5th we will celebrate our first Flip-Flops Shabbat of the summer, please join us in a very casual, outdoors, relaxed, all welcome, community gathering.

In July, Cantor and I will have the privilege to accompany a group of 15 “Shirhadashniks” (members) who will be participating in Hadar’s Learning Seminar in New York. There is still time to join - please let us know if you are interested.

During the last week of July and the first few days of August I will be joining some of our youth at Camp Newman. One of the most beautiful things at camp is the Shabbat experience. This year Camp Newman has opened their camp shabbat with an opportunity for communities to join - I hope you will consider joining for Shabbat at Camp on July 26.

In the meantime we will keep running a full schedule of learning activities, services and lifecycle events. I look forward to seeing you around and hearing from you.

Warm regards,
Nico
