SHAGY

SHAGY (Shir Hadash Adolescent Youth Group) is the youth group for high school students at Shir Hadash. Through SHAGY, you will meet other Jewish teens, learn about and aid people in our area and all over the world, plan events that you want to participate in, and most of all have fun!

SHAGY is open to all Jewish 9th–12th graders in the local community.

To join, please fill out the membership form and mail it with your check to Congregation Shir Hadash.

SHAGY holds social events about once a month. We also emphasize social action and Jewish culture, leading services for the congregation once a year and committing ourselves to the work of Tikkun Olam—repairing the world.

Past events and social action projects have included:

  • Beach parties
  • Drive-in movie nights
  • Gathering clothes for the homeless
  • Food drives
  • Supporting and raising funds to help the Invisible Children -- child soldiers in Africa
  • Supporting worthy causes in Israel.

SHAGY is part of NFTY, the North American Federation of Temple Youth. Through regional conclaves, inter-chapter events, and international conventions SHAGY offers you the chance to meet Reform Jewish teens from across the Bay Area and all over the world.

To learn more, get answers to your questions, or find out how to get involved, please email or contact the synagogue office at 408-358-1751, ext.2.

Everyone is welcome and we can’t wait to see YOU at our next event!!
