Singles Film Festival Night -"Arab Labor Season 3"

Date: Monday, July 30, 2012
Time: 6:30 pm
Location: CineArts Palo Alto

We are excited that the San Francisco film festival has planned several days of films in Palo Alto, at Cinearts, which is at the back of the Palo Alto Square office complex at 3000 El Camino Real (at Page Mill Rd.)

We think our Singles Group (ages 40-70) will enjoy the Monday July 30 early evening offering, which is the Israeli TV sitcom series "Arab Labor Season 3" at 6:35 PM. The feature runs for 80 minutes and is in Hebrew and Arabic with English subtitles.

Afterward we will drive around the corner to the Olive Garden Restaurant, at 2515 El Camino Real, just North of Page Mill (a right turn) on El Camino on the right, where we will have arranged a separate area to discuss the showing with Rabbi Aron as a group, and have (no host) dessert.

This is a very funny sitcom series known for taking equal opportunity jabs at Israeli and Arab stereotypes. If you saw any episodes of this series at prior festivals this will not be a repeat, as these are brand new episodes from the third season. However, you do not have to have seen any of the previous seasons, to appreciate this series. The writer, Sayed Kashua, an Israeli Arab, whose writing is very significant in Israel, received the Freedom of Expression Award in 2010 from the SFJFF festival. It should be a great evening.

You will need to buy your own ticket which costs $12 under 65; $11 for 65 and older. ($2 charge for mailed tickets; free for "will call") but there is usually a line. Please order now as the festival often sells out, especially the early evening shows. Also please try to arrive 30 minutes early as the ticket holder line forms early, and season passholders may be seated first. Online tickets: or by phone M-F from 10 AM to 5 PM at 415-621-0523.

We hope you would love to join the group for this special evening, and ask that you rsvp your attendance to Andrea Harris or to Mira Engel by July 25th so we can have the space we need at the restaurant. Also feel free to contact Andrea or Mira with questions.
